Sunshine...glorious sunshine...oh how we have missed you! : )
What is it about walls that children cannot resist walking on top of them? : )
A beautiful surprise met our eyes when we peered over the wall, into the field beyond it...
the air may still be a bit nippy but spring is beginning! YAY!
entering the ivy covered orchard path
The route through the orchard was unclear, so we backtracked and took the second route.
This is called "The Avenue" and has a reputation for it's summer beauty...we will have to walk this path again...
We stopped at a park to play for a little while.
Here William poses next to a tree trunk that has been carved into a snake.
(Sorry Gma...had to include this one!)
There was also an elephant carving...
Josh...always the daredevil...
his pose was something akin to a "king of the world" stance but I missed it.
As a future director...Connor instructs me to take a series of posed shots for his action sequence...
These next three shots were to depict something about him riding this frog and then it blows up...
...he is tossed through the air...
...and lands with a "thud"...
the imagination can take you anywhere...
: )
In the middle of their play...the kids are distracted by the weird snow that falls even as the sun is still shining...it's hard to see in this photo...but if you look close at the grass you can see some white streaks...it was like a freak rain shower....only the "snow" was frozen pellets....
...see?
Then after a couple of minutes...it was all gone...with only a few wet spots on the ground to prove that our eyes did not deceive us.
On this day's adventure we discovered a lake we didn't realize existed in Brandon...
...as well as a "lock" and "sluice" spanning the river
looking to the west from the top of the pedestrian bridge
William and Josh get a lesson on how to skip stones across the water
soon we are joined by some waterfowl looking for food...too bad we didn't have any...
amazingly beautiful creatures...complete with ill tempers...
We were treated to the sight of a variety of different waterfowl...but didn't get to see them up close (thankful for zoom features on the camera!) because the two white swans seemed to rule this section of the river...
It's the elusive three wheeled car!
I have been trying to get a good shot of this car that I have seen so many times. It's such an interesting little car...with only one wheel on the front! (You can see the shadow of it underneath...in the above photo). I will keep trying to get a better picture of it....but this is the closest I have come to being successful of capturing it on film. : ) It's so cute!
close this window to go back
Josh tried to reason with them but their hissing made it clear that they were unhappy.
I was afraid that this would end up being a "blast from the past" when I first learned (age three) that ducks do not like to be kissed! : ) However, the swans stayed in the water and Josh gave up his attempts at interspecies communications. : ) Whew!
